Ten thousand years after nuclear holocaust, Earth has reverted to the savage garden, and Man to his Neanderthal roots. Yet a man-child is born, fully human, and a young woman wakes to find the world she knew...
This one is something of a throwback, like Planet of the Apes or 1,000,000 Years B.C. Nuclear war decimated the planet 10,000 years before, and Earth has reverted to the savage garden. Man has de-evolved to his Neanderthal state, with other creatures becoming more advance, or raised by radiation to gigantic proportions.
The main character is born into a group of cavemen, fully human, which neither they nor he can understand or accept. He is outcast, to find another like himself, a woman-child… (more)

It's divided into three parts, which essentially make it a trilogy, which I enjoy. I sense the influence of Tolkien, Bradbury, and the other creative minds of science fiction and fantasy.

A surprisingly good read.
