One of Howard's historical fiction novellas. The hero is Francis X. Gordon, the American answer to T.E. Lawrence. The story is set in WWI Turkey, with the British, the Germans, the Turks, and the arabs fighting it out, when a Turkish army company mutinies and sets out to carve a bloody empire from the countryside. Gordon rescues some of the good people, and sees that many, many bad people die.
Some of the violence is graphic.
