An okay story with one interesting idea--thought as independent of life--and a lot of hand-waving miracles of science.
Webb Foster, the greatest scientist in the solar system (they voted on it) is called upon by the solar council to discover why the system's greatest scientists are disappearing. The Martian Ku-mar (the loser of the vote,) was the first to vanish. It's a space opera. Read it as that, and you'll be okay.
