It's rather a reach to call this a horror story; it's an arch and cynical interpretation of the myth.
Dexter becomes a zombie without dying by losing his soul in a poker game. He's damned listless, but has no taste for brains and has to practice his walk. His crisis comes when he spots his soul attached to another guy.
I hate zombie stories. This one was pretty good.
