the ending reminds me of what happened for real in "Second Life" where a software geek created a "printer" that let "residence" create anything that they wanted (thereby threatening the "economy" of that virtual world).
If you enjoy reading this short story, I'd recommend books (the sort that come in paper form) by Ken Macleod (such as "Execution Channel" or "Night Sessions").
