i was pleasantly surprised by this story. I had heard of the movie but it looked sort of creepy so i decided not to watch it. Stumbling upon this site this book was the first one to show up so i decided to read it. I'm glad I did and I recommend it to anyone who has a some spare time.
I made the mistake of watching the movie before knowing that there was a book. While it might sound cliched to say that the book is better, I think it fair to say that it is more a case of each being entirely seperate pieces of work. Very enjoyable read.

Beyond all the little jokes, his life is so tragic, and yet, we feel hopeful in the end.
