A drama of gold, of pain, of curious crime and the heart of a girl, by one of America's most brilliant writers.
Mystery, tragedy, comedy, glimpses of a Harlem Bohemia, and the blasé social atmosphere of multi-millionaires are overlaid with the freshness and vitality of the Spanish singer Cassy Cara, a wholly delightful girl. The development of the plot is piquant and most engaging.

Adventure stories with strong main characters, often ones that abide by the strict moral code of a Gentleman

I typically like to read books with lots dialogue, as I enjoy how characters reveal themselves in conversation. The first part of this book, has little dialogue, but serves as an example for an entertaining narrative. Later the characters develop a robust dialogue which is just as entertaining as the narrative.
