Note: A Princess of Mars is currently scheduled to be released as a Disney/Pixar movie in 2012, under the title John Carter of Mars.
This is one of the great science ficton/romance novels of the Pulp Age. Burroughs introduces whole civilizations, alien creatures, and cultures both living and extinct. The panorama of Mars through which the characters move is almost as compelling as the story of hero John Carter, his alien friend Tars Tarkas, and the beautiful Dejah Thoris who is in constant need of rescue.
