Content
How can I read books from Feedbooks ?
Is every book on the service free/public domain ?
Every book published in our public domain and original books sections are free. Books from our store require payment. Public domain status is a complex issue and some books might be strictly available in a specific territory. We include a copyright notice for these works both on our website, our API and in our books. Check this notice before you download a title.
Which format should I use ?
We have specific help pages for each format but the short answer is EPUB most of the time. It’s the standard for ebooks, and it is widely supported across almost every device and software. If you’re a Kindle user, then you should download our books in the Kindle format and if you’d like to print a book, PDF is the most obvious choice.
Publishing
How can I publish my original book to Feedbooks ?
You’ll need to register and log in to your account, then just click on the “Publish” link at the top of any page. You’ll find detailed help about publishing here: Self-publishing on Feedbooks.
How do I add a book that’s in the public domain ?
If you’d like to add a book that is not already in our catalogue, click on the “Add book” link in the top right of the Author details page.
You’ll find step-by-step instructions on adding a public domain book on this page: Publishing a public domain book on Feedbooks.
How do I get paid ?
Currently, self-published titles on Feedbooks are all available for free and therefore, there's no revenue sharing between Feedbooks and authors.
This might change in the future, but our priority is to improve our publishing platform first rather than focus on selling titles from authors.
Can I see statistics about downloads of my books ?
You can see the total number of downloads on your profile: Go to your profile.
In addition, you can see detailed analytics by clicking on “Analytics” in the top right of the details page of your book.
I've already made PDF / Mobipocket / EPUB files of all my books, can I just upload those to Feedbooks instead of using the web interface ?
Feedbooks doesn't just distribute ebooks: our technology also generates on the fly any book in any format (EPUB, Mobipocket, PDF). This enables users to personalize their PDFs for example (text size, choice of fonts, etc.) and also allows us to constantly improve the quality of the books we generate (formats like EPUB are still new and evolving quickly).
For this reason, we need to have as our source not only the text but also its structure (parts, chapters, sections), instead of an end format. To distribute your books on Feedbooks, you must therefore create the appropriate structure in our editor, then paste the text to provide us with the necessary information.
Can I upload copyrighted books ?
No. Unless you are the copyright holder, copyrighted materials should not be published on Feedbooks. We will immediately remove them, and we will restrict access to our publishing facilities for accounts which continue to use our service for illegal activities.
