This was an enjoyable read, and one that took me to a place and time I hadn’t explored before.

As we struggle now against the indifferent vicissitudes of history, this novel is a timely reminder that many before us have managed to survive, if imperfectly, in a world hostile to them.

Vivid and immersive, Pachinko is a rich tribute to a people that history seems intent on erasing.
