Gun Machine

Editorial reviews

Gun Machine

What is...impressive about Gun the subtle genius with which Ellis pokes and prods things, looking at cutting-edge technology not so much from its front end but from the back, treating what is left in its wake to an unblinking and frightening evaluation.

Gun Machine succeeds in being exactly what it wants to be: a magnificently entertaining gun held to the head of the crime thriller genre.

The book’s real achievement is to create a world that is so bleakly and comically out of whack that the hunter has half a point, taking refuge in a fantasy land where civilization has yet to intrude.

It’s the perfect book to start reading during an airplane flight; it can be finished by the time the plane lands, and left behind in the luggage rack without regret.
