This is possibly the most moving book I have ever read about grief, but it is also a very, very fine book about love.

Losing them plunged her into darkness. Writing about what happened brings them back into the light, a little.

Uncomfortable and unsettling, it is a reminder of the horror of this mass tragedy as well as a brave, brutal portrait of Deraniyagala’s own individual, inescapable grief and love.
