Women in the First World may have a hard time now, but it’s infinitely better than it was 130 years ago.

McVeigh has fashioned a captivating and thoroughly researched historical novel.... The Fever Tree is also a riveting love story and a well-told tale of one woman’s journey towards self-discovery.

Readers might argue that the ending’s a bit weak when compared to the boldness of the rest of the story, but that’s a minor issue. Overall, this story’s a gem.
