Editorial reviews (6 reviews)

Just like Meyer’s riveting 2009 debut American Rust, this is a wonderful novel.

Meyer writes with such considerable scope, and so well, about the awful events that allowed the United States to wrest that land from the Mexicans and the Indians.

It’s an enveloping, extremely well-wrought, popular novel with passionate convictions about the people, places and battles that it conjures.
