Editorial reviews (4 reviews)

Half the Kingdom is more harrowing than hilarious, and too short and sketchy to be a compelling addition to a now familiar geriatric genre.

Segal’s story technique may be disjointed but the novel hangs together as a satire about how we treat the elderly.

Half the Kingdom has an airy, farcical quality. The flighty rhythm of the novel as it breezes through the perspectives of its unwieldy cast feels looser than lips spilling the juiciest dirt.
