The Bear: A Novel
Bookreporter : The Bear (February 28, 2014)

Readers’ hearts will ache as they realize how little Anna understands and how much sadness she has yet to absorb. Equally affecting, however, is the realization of how much Anna does know --- about courage, survival and, most of all, love.

The Bear reminded me that listening to a kindergartner for sustained periods of time can be, to put it in the least curmudgeonly way possible, a numbing experience

The book meanders when it should be a taut thriller, forcing the reader to worry whether these children will make it out alive.

I don't want anyone to have to suffer the pain I experienced reading The Bear, but at the same time I want everyone on the planet to read this book and feel these horribly complex and yet intensely primal emotions.
