There is so much drama and heartfelt emotion in the story and I loved every page of it.

A nondancer, Shipstead has admirably absorbed ballet’s vocabulary of steps, and certain settings and classic bits of choreography are precisely and credibly described.

This is a bravura display of high-performance art, the only constant its quest for perfection.
