While it is a good story, it is not a terribly fantastic one as the buzz may lead readers to anticipate.

Lepucki places enough breadcrumbs along the way that the truly dramatic revelations aren’t particularly surprising, but that lack of suspense doesn’t make the story any less affecting.

It’s a swiftly paced, nerve-racking novel, one of those books that produces simultaneous desires: You want to keep plowing through it but dread what surprises Lepucki is going to spring.
