This is truly the best sci-fi book I've ever read. Watts' understanding of science is far-ranging and the story illustrates so many fine points of technology, consciousness and reality. But it's not just the knowledge, the man is an excellent writer. This is truly one of the finest books I've ever read in ANY genre. Amazing. And the idea that he's released the books into the public domain is wildly generous. Read this book.
