Thanks for the explanation. If I find a Sony forum where I can file this request, I will. Meanwhile, I found that downloading the mobi version and converting that to epub with Calibre seemed to work too. (PDF files aren't ideal for the Sony either, zooming doesn't work very well with those.)

BTW: I was referring to the epub version, not the pdfs.

When I copy this to my Sony Touch Edition, it can't read it. In the Sony Ebook software the file reads fine, but on the machine I get a 'page error' and can't get beyond the first page (frontispiece). Probably some problem with the image file? I have the same problem with Balzac's Splendeur & misère des courtisanes. But not with any of the other French Proust volumes, for instance.
