His Robot Girlfriend is a good quick read. The writing style draws in even a "lazy" reader like myself so that you don't feel that getting back into the book is a chore. The events flow, not giving the reader the feeling of being bottlenecked. His Robot Girlfriend is a good quick read. The writing style draws in even a "lazy" reader like myself so that you don't feel that getting back into the book is a chore. The events flow, not giving the reader the feeling of being bottlenecked. I was looking forward to this story since it seems to be one of the more popular books on the site and I was mostly satisfied. Sorry, but there are still typos.

My biggest criticism is that the story sets itself up for this tremendous finish and then doesn't. I know that it's a character study and Mike is extremely human while Patience, to my thinking, is extremely inhuman. The contrast is very subtle but still there. I definitely didn't need robots taking over the world or Patience becoming sentient and hunted by the government but I felt as if there wasn't really a resolution to their relationship.

A good example is the way Mike struggled with buying the robot but had absolutely no trouble accepting her in a very human role. I think the evolution/resolution is very important in a character driven story.

On the other side, there are some great examples of character development. A reader below commented on Mike's willingness to become pampered and yet he didn't hesitate to act when being mugged. This is the kind of contrast that adds dimension to the character.

A good story with a 3 dimensional character and a very interesting concept. I enjoyed the writing and the way the events came together. The ending was a bit abrupt but still certainly a worthwhile read.
