SirMewt, thank you very much for taking the time to leave such an excellent comment. I was really hoping/needing to hear something positive, and you have my appreciation. I'm glad you enjoyed reading NEW FRONTIERS, and I am already thinking through some scenarios for NEW FRONTIERS 2.0!
Again, I appreciate the kind words.
Cheers!
Sorry you feel that way, though I appreciate you posting your opinion and taking the time to read my story.
I wrote the ending that way for a couple of reasons. First, it lets the reader imagine what happens afterward. Second, it gives me the opening to continue with it if I should later choose to. As for the store names, there were only the two you mentioned, and I only did that so I wouldn't be using the actual names of the places... and I thought Sol-Bucks was kind of clever...
Fixed some errors today, think (hope) that covers all of them...
Loved it. Classic 1950's sci-fi about a loaner and his trusty robot. Kind of sad and nihilistic, but definitely a good read.
Really liked reading this. Great job creating a sense of history, and I especially like how the Floaters and other machines are made to be just as important as the human characters.
The ending leaves you thinking "What the..." and so you'll re-read the last bit maybe two more times. Liked this a lot, the abrupt ending was killer.
Very cool fight-the-system sci-fi. Enjoyed reading it, and am happy I came across it while searching for other things.
Really liked reading this. Was sorry to see it end. Interesting characters, nice job with the impending sense of doom.
Really enjoyed reading this. Classic alien 1950's sci-fi. Great stuff.
Very quick read, but it stays with you. You'll think about this story much longer than it takes to read actually it. Very cool, enjoyed it.
Excellent story, read it in one go. Really like the way the future/present has been broken up into territories - very Asimov-like, but you made it your own. Really liked the action, police work, history of the main character and his family, and the development of technology, and how it differs territory to territory.
You're really making want to read more robot stuff. Time to dust off the Asimov collection... Unless you've got more :)
Creepy, disturbing, leaves you asking questions. Well done.
Short and to the point. If you're a tool, even synthetic lifeforms can tell.
I'd like to say that I saw that coming, but I'd be lying. Great robot story. I think someone was ignoring their 3 Laws...
I liked this story. It definitely had the pulp scifi feel I was looking for.
Very descriptive, the main character makes you feel simultaneous pity and disgust. The end left me feeling slightly disturbed - so job well done!
I just wanted to say how much I love this story. It was the first thing I read from feedbooks, and I was in no way disappointed. I read it pretty much on one sitting. I did have to put it down to take care of something, but I was thinking about it the whole time I was reading it. In fact, you inspired me to finally post my first story. I've been sitting on it, unsure if I wanted to put it "out there". So, thanks!
Again, I truly love the story, it makes me feel optimistic towards the future, and… (more)
