I've read a lot of SciFi in my time, and I have to say this is a great read. You have a skill in creating an interesting and plausible backstory which goes a long way in to helping to weave the story elements together. By the end I found myself wanting to know more about the characters, the floaters, the technologically regressive society they found themselves in. Good stuff ;)

Thank you Scott,

Yes, the machines were important characters. I didn't want them to be scary - just misunderstood - except by those who knew how to talk to them. I was also trying to create something nostalgic and romantic. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking time out to comment.

Best Wishes

Michael

Really liked reading this. Great job creating a sense of history, and I especially like how the Floaters and other machines are made to be just as important as the human characters.
