Prooofreading is one of the things that set a book apart from the rest of the pack. Both of the books in this series are excellent, with good characters, interesting stories, and writing that flows well. They are marred, in my opinion, only by poor punctuation, and words misused (their for they're, for example )
I'm especially sensitive to this kind of thing because I used to work for a technical book publisher, doing proofreading and manuscript edits. I'd be happy to take a look at your manuscripts… (more)

It is, and that's exactly why you need a good editor who can read your text for you. Or a friend who knows English. Or your mom. Doesn't matter, but all the mistakes have to be fixed because they overshadow the otherwise very good stories and ruin the overall reading experience.
I would advise against proof reading your own texts, it drives you crazy after a while :-)
