There is honesty in the statement that he read less when worked in a bookstore than at any other time. Bookstore clerks and the job they do is certainly misunderstood.
That said, this compilation is something only a clerk could enjoy, as many of the "stupid" questions are people asking for help from someone who is paid to be an expert. Often, what comes out of our mouth is not exactly what we meant, which is exploited here. Many have nothing to do with books, but in a bookstore that probably… (more)

That said, this compilation is something only a clerk could enjoy, as many of the "stupid" questions are people asking for help from someone who is paid to be an expert. Often, what comes out of our mouth is not exactly what we meant, which is exploited here. Many have nothing to do with books, but in a bookstore that probably survives by San Francisco tourist dollars it is a bit much to sneer when people ask out-of-town questions (What is the BART? for example).
In the end, it's not savvy enough to move from misanthropic to good satire or humor.
