The opening scene happened to me one summer. A man was standing at the telephone booth talking (yelling). I was picking up newspaper. I turned around and he was on the ground. I thought he was drunk. I called the ambulance. They came within minutes. But when they arrived he was already dead.
As I recall this story had been going over in my mind since I was about 7 years old and a neighbour accused me of throwing rocks down his well. It was spurred on by a program I heard on the radio with Art Bell about a fellow who discovered a huge hole on his property.
This was the first of three books that I thought would grow to 4 but kind of broke down in the mechanics of the 4th book. The 2nd book was called H&R and the third was called Snow. I'm not sure what to do with them. The 4th book was going to be called The Invisible Man (Its already written).
