In the British Zone, women are in control and men are marginalized. Technology and order are the new orthodoxies, surveillance and indoctrination the favoured methods of control. Those who step out of line, mainly men, are ‘re-educated’. The Government attempts to secure its hold on society with the development of the secret Tranquillity Project, an attempt to manipulate gender differences through the feminization of the behaviour of all human beings from birth.
