In Last Tale 3, Elwyna--the exiled wife of Lord Godric--lives quietly in the woods with her lover, Dumbun, until a group of Norman soldiers come to the woods to obtain timber for Richard's castle. The Norman knights treat everything in Elwyna's home as their own--even Elwyna herself. Not sure what to do, Elywna realizes she must go crawling back to Godric for help or somehow take matters into her own hands.

Set in the Dark Ages of Engla-lond, the "Last Tales of Mercia" are ten short stories featuring real historical figures and characters from the "Sons of Mercia" series. Though strongly connected to the series and each other, they can be read independently.
