This novel was very well written, creative, with an exceptional strongly developed character. The book is well edited and engaging. I lost several hours of sleep as I read this book.
There is no character that is likable in the story as I believe the author intended. All of them have exceptional strengths and critical flaws. The author focuses on the psychological interaction of these strengths and flaws.

Let me just start off by saying that the writing style is very good. I would love to read other works by this author.
That said, I really couldn't bring myself to finish this particular story. The reason for this is the main character. I just couldn't connect to her as a protagonist. She's selfish, manipulative, and the casual heartlessness in how she treats her slave--unintentional though her cruelty might be--left me feeling queasy. I suppose a reader less sensitive to such subject matter than… (more)
