Well worth a read, but hasn’t earned a place on my ‘favourites’ shelf.

This is a soapy, eventful saga expertly paced and delivering doses of emotion as efficiently as an intravenous drip.

Spilt Milk will be enjoyed by those who like family sagas but it’s much more than that: Hodgkinson’s thoughtful writing demands careful reading.
